Otoplasty Using Expanded “Bag-shape” Opisthotic Fascial Flap
Jun Ren, Sr., Ph.D.&M.D..
Plastic Surgery Dep. No.3 Wuhan Municipal Hospital ,Wuhan,China, Wuhan, China.

PURPOSE:
Discuss otoplasty using expanded “bag-shape” opisthotic fascial flap to reconstructive a lifelike ear .From Dec ember 1997 to April 2010 we had operated 317 ear deformity patients.
METHODS:
The operation has IIstatge: StageI Use a 50ml kidney shape ear expander to put into a patient’s opisthotic subscutaneous region and lobe of the ear was tranposed or laid aside. stage II Take out the expander by making a 2.5-4.0cm incision at the top or bottom of the ear expander flap. The reniform incision except the preauriclar pedical part which was 0.5_0.6cm away from the expander edge was slit until the deep fascia and dissected forword at the same layer in order to form a “bag-shape”flap. After operation an auricle model was put into and fixed inside the “bag” . A aspirating tube was inserted into the “bag” also. The back of the reconstructive ear was repaired with the full thickness graft.
RESULTS:
This new method simplified traditional operation. The new method is improved ear blood cirulation and negative pressure creat a nice ear shape, also reduced complication rate.
CONCLUSION:
From our operated 317 patients in our hospital, we fund that the new procedure successful rate much more higher than traditonal operation, and the shape of the reconstructed ear are more lifelike.
