Annual Business Meeting Highlights
The AAPS Annual Business Meeting was held on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Westin LaCantera in San Antonio, Texas, as part of the AAPS Annual Meeting. Bahman Guyuron, MD, President, reported on the Association’s activities during the past year; Stephen Ariyan, MD, Secretary reviewed membership statistics and changes; and C. Lin Puckett, MD, Treasurer, presented the finances of the organization. For additional highlights.

AAPS Academic Scholarships Applications Available
Applications for the AAPS Academic Scholarship are now available online. We encourage all potential recipients to review the guidelines and apply for this $30,000 per year research award. Read more.

2010 Annual Meeting Highlights
In addition to 9 scientific sessions focusing on the latest developments in plastic surgery and 35 posters, highlights of the AAPS Annual Meeting include several special lectures and presentations including: the Presidential Address “Perpetual Learning, Perpetual Mentors” by Bahman Guyuron, M.D.; the Murray Lecture “Plastic Surgery Research, Past, Present, Future” given by Michael T. Longaker, M.D.; the always popular Aesthetic Symposium on Saturday; Panel Presentations on Mentorship, Health Care Reform: What’s Going On and What Do We Do About It?, and Fat Injection in the Breast: Basic Science and Clinical Innovations. In addition to an outstanding scientific program, the AAPS Annual Meeting would not be complete without an entertaining and inviting social program including the Aesthetic Symposium Reception, the Welcome Reception, Poster Reception, Fun Run, and the President’s Cocktail Reception and Dinner Dance. New Members
Sixteen new members were recently elected to AAPS Membership. This Class of 2010 will be formally inducted at the 2011 Annual Meeting in Boca Raton, Florida. See the complete list.

Academic Scholar Awards
The AAPS was pleased to be able to award two Academic Scholarships during the 2010 Annual Meeting. Dr. Michael Bentz, Chair of the Research Committee, reported that the Committee received 9 applications, all of which were excellent projects with the majority of them being translational. Researcher of the Year Awards
During the 2010 Annual Meeting, the AAPS was excited to announce the establishment of two new awards – the Researcher of the Year Awards. One award will be given in basic/translational research and one award will be presented for clinical research. More information and the winners.
